I. LOVE. THESE. HEADPHONES. I wish they had adult versions of these headphones, although admittedly I am petite enough to use them myself. Any time someone asks me what headphones my kids use, I immediately tell them to buy the LilGadgets Connect+. Seriously, go buy them for your kids!
What sets these headphones apart from all the other headphones geared towards children is that you don’t need a splitter. Yes, you read that correctly–YOU DON’T NEED A SPLITTER! I can’t tell you how many times my husband and I have lost a splitter or have forgotten to pack it, even before we had children. The headphones come with a removable audio wire. You attach one end into your device and the other end into the headphones. If you, the parent, want to watch the same movie/show on the iPad or laptop, you just stick in your headphone jack into the LilGadgets headset! How awesome is that?! You have more than one kid? No problem, just stick their jack into the LilGadgets headset. I can’t tell you how great this is! You don’t have to worry about needing a splitter ever again!!!
The sound quality of these headphones are also really great. I mean they aren’t Bose headphones, but they are pretty good for kids and also for the price. I have actually used them to watch a movie with my son, and they were great–I could clearly hear what I was watching despite the ambient noise of an airplane. The volume is capped at 93db, which is a bit higher than what is recommended for children. But LilGadgets argues that you need it to be this high to hear over the ambient noise of an airplane, train, car, etc. They recommend not to have the volume at full blast unless absolutely necessary and for an hour or two at a time. We never have the volume at full blast anyways, and I still could hear really well.
The headphones are padded and covers the ear. My kids didn’t complain about it hurting, and truth be told my son had them on the entire plane ride to England last summer. Judging by that I will assume they are comfortable. They are adjustable, so they will grow with your child too. And it’s made of a durable plastic–I never feel like they’ll snap. It also comes with a carry sack to store the headphones (they fold) and your audio wire. I love the little sack because it just keeps us organized.
My only gripe about the headphones are the wires. We just end up getting tangled in them, but that’s probably more a function of our family than the product (I think). They do make a bluetooth version, but it’s more expensive and you still require the audio wire if you want to listen to the same device.
Don’t be turned off by the price tag for kids headphones. We’ve used other kids headphones that are slightly cheaper, and these are by far so superior. Seriously, buy them for your kids!
