New York City Spring Break: Part 3

Since the previous day was jammed pack, we decided to have a more leisurely day. After breakfast, we took an Uber to the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum. Because the museum isn’t really close to any subway stops, and we didn’t want to force two small kids to walk a lot that day we opted for an Uber, which was pretty easy enough.
Listening to the audio tour.

Again this is a bit of an expensive adventure, but that’s to be expected of NYC I guess. It cost about $30 for adults and children under 5 are free. We also splurged on the handheld audio tour, which is $7. They have one geared towards kids and one for adults. My husband and son got the audio tour, while I managed my daughter. My son also would sometimes share his audio guide if he found something really cool and wanted his sister to hear.

The highlight for the kids was the 22 foot Intrepid model made entirely of LEGO. If you have kids who are totally into LEGO, then this will probably be a highlight for them as well. It was actually quite amazing how much detail they were able to capture through LEGO, including the planes on top.

Another highlight was the Space Shuttle Enterprise. Funny enough, my husband and I have already seen Enterprise in its old home at the Air and Space Museum in DC. So it was nice to see it being fawned over in its new home on the Intrepid. My son absolutely loves space, and so it was another highlight for him. The audio tour told him some great facts that he really enjoyed listening to.

Overall the Intrepid was a good way to kill a few hours with the kids. They got to explore an aircraft carrier and it’s different floors, got to see and sometimes climb on some different aircraft, and they learned a lot.

Afterwards we took another Uber to Grand Central Station to have lunch at the food court. We figured it was a good place to meet the picky needs to both kids and adults. My husband also needed to meet a friend nearby. So while he met up with his friend (who is as bachelory as they come), I took the kids to a few blocks away to the LEGO store. There they just played and looked in awe at the different builds. Of course we couldn’t leave without a little NYC LEGO souvenir.

Afterwards we rested in our AirBnB before we met up with other friends in Chinatown.

Again, we decided to take it easy this day since the previous day we did so much stuff. It was still educational and eventful, and I think everyone enjoyed their outing in NYC. Especially seeing the city above ground!
