When traveling with an infant, baby wearing can be a life saver, not to mention less cumbersome. Baby wearing keeps your baby close to you while your hands are free to deal with luggage or your older child. Let’s talk about the Maya Wrap ring sling.
Of all the ring slings I’ve tried, I liked this one the most. Like other ring slings, it is compact. I love how I can fold it up, pack it in the baby bag, and it not take up a huge amount of space. Ring slings are also really easy to put on and take off. There’s no extra fabric you need to weave in and out like a wrap carrier. There’s no buckles and contorting to buckle said buckles with soft structured carriers. You just slip it over your head, place the baby in, and then pull on the tail to get a nice snuggily fit. And I find it so much easier and natural to breastfeed in a ring sling–just loosen the tail and feed.
What sets the Maya Wrap apart are two things: the padded shoulder and the zippered pocket.
The padded shoulder doesn’t seem like much, but for me it makes a totally difference. I feel like I can wear my baby longer because of the padded shoulder. Usually ring slings feel like they are going to slice my shoulder/arm after an hour. But the padded shoulder really helps with that, meaning I can go longer wearing my baby.
OMG, the zippered pocket! Who knew one little detail would make a ring sling so awesome! I try to be a minimalist when going out, which is hard when you have children. I love how I can stick in a small wallet and keys in the pocket if I want to run a quick errand to the store and don’t want to take my purse. I can put a small snack or an extra pacifier in the pocket for quick access. That pocket will change your life!
If you want a simple baby carrier that takes up little space and has high functionality, you really should consider the Maya Wrap ring sling!
